Why I Feel Called to Share Art Through Teaching

There’s something magical that happens when we sit down with paint, paper, and a willingness to explore. For me, creating art has always been more than just putting color on a canvas it’s been a doorway into self-discovery, healing, and joy. Over the years, that quiet magic has grown into something even deeper: a calling to share this creative path with others.

I didn’t always know I’d be a teacher. In fact, for much of my life, I was focused on other roles raising a family, building a career, navigating life’s many chapters. Art came later, but when it did, it opened up a part of me that had been quietly waiting in the wings. And once I experienced what it felt like to reconnect with my creative spirit, I couldn’t keep it to myself.

Art Gave Me Something Back

We live in a world that often asks us to be productive, practical, and efficient. But art doesn’t work that way. Art invites us to slow down. To play. To listen inward. It reminded me that I’m more than the to-do list and the responsibilities I’m a creator. A dreamer. A person with something to express.

And I believe, with every fiber of my being, that this is true for others too especially for those of us who’ve spent years giving so much of ourselves to others. Creativity isn’t a luxury; it’s a lifeline.

Why I Teach

I teach because I want to help others remember who they are beneath the surface of daily life. I want to guide people back to their own sense of wonder to show them that they can make art, even if they haven’t picked up a paintbrush in decades.

I teach because I know how intimidating it can feel to start. How easy it is to believe you’re not “artistic” or “good enough.” I’ve heard all the doubts I’ve had some of them myself and I love watching those doubts melt away when someone finally gives themselves permission to play.

I teach because I’ve seen the transformation that happens when people reclaim their creative voice. The joy. The confidence. The sense of possibility.

And finally, I teach because I believe art connects us not only to ourselves, but to each other. In every workshop, every course, every shared creative moment, something powerful unfolds. We create, yes but we also witness one another. We laugh. We learn. We become braver.

This Is an Invitation

If you’re reading this and wondering if maybe, just maybe, there’s something inside you waiting to be expressed I want you to know this: there is. And it’s never too late to begin.

Teaching art is one of the great joys of my life, and I’m honored to walk this path with others who are ready to rediscover their creativity. Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or returning to it after many years, you are welcome here.

Come as you are. Let’s explore what’s possible together.
